Minutes of Life Together Group held on Thursday 30th April 2009 at Margaret Norgrove’s

From Last Time

  • Information Bookmark: Could be used three times a year – Advent/Christmas, Lent/Holy Week/Easter and Summer activities.  It would always be the same size with the same design (two churches) and services on the front.  The back would carry the differing information. Action: Nigel to be asked to further this with a dummy run for either a Summer one or Advent/Christmas.
  • Sunday Club/Family Service attendance: F. William is meeting with the Sunday Club leaders on 7th May.
  • Integrated annual calendar: This requires a diary holder at each end of the parish for communication, a year planner in each church and coloured stickers to register events (red for St George’s and blue for St Michael’s).  All dates would be provisionally booked until confirmed by the diary holder.  A link to the secular parish would be useful. Action: F. William to ask Dave Tidey and Bridget Giddens to be diary holders

MISSION ACTION PLAN 2009

  • Point 2/3:  F. William has met with the Methodists who are keen to be involved.  This is a good time of year for the contacts to be consolidated.
  • The welcome pack is being followed through with Alec Moore.
  • Point 13:  There will be a non Eucharistic worship meeting on Monday 8th June at 7.30pm in St Michael’s church.

Other

  • Pilgrimage 2009: A title has yet to be decided.  Cost will be approximately £30 per day plus travel.  Three places are being advertised. Action: Heather to contact Wendy and confirm her place.
  • People Board: We need to develop a parish contact email address book which can be printed off for church use.  We need a monthly magazine including some photographs for those without computer access. Action: F. William to produce a form – ‘Have you an email address, if so may we have it?’  He will also approach someone computer competent to produce the magazine.
  • Coach Trip to Canterbury: This will be on Saturday 13th June from 9.00am to 6.30pm approximately.  Leaving from the Partridge Pub.  Cost £15 per person.
  • Life of Christ: An open air play near Guildford Tuesday 23rd June to Sunday 28th June.  10.00am to 4.00pm.  Cost £15.00 adults, £7.50 children/students.
  • Talent Scheme: Need someone to oversee this.
  • Christian Bookshop: They will give 10% discount on various things if we have a bookstall three times a year. Action: Margaret will look into the logistics of this especially relating to both churches.
  • Church Army meeting: Paul Tomlinson will talk about the work of the Church Army on Tuesday 2nd June at 7.30pm at St Michael’s church.
  • Cascade of prayer: In place in both churches. Action: F. William to remind people about using it when appropriate.
